GUIDED ICE CLIMBING

Hyalite Canyon

Hyalite Canyon is the crown jewel of Montana ice climbing and one of the most accessible and diverse winter climbing areas in the country. Located just outside Bozeman, Hyalite offers a dense concentration of high-quality ice routes in a stunning alpine setting—making it a must-visit destination for climbers of all levels.

With a reliable season typically stretching from November through March, Hyalite features everything from beginner-friendly flows like G1 and Genesis to steep, technical lines like Cleopatra’s Needle and Black Magic. The canyon’s unique microclimate and north-facing walls allow for consistent ice formation and a wide variety of climbing styles, from short roadside pitches to full-day multi-pitch adventures.

Whether you're looking to learn the basics of ice climbing or test yourself on some of the most iconic routes in the Lower 48, our certified guides will provide the knowledge, safety, and local expertise to make your Hyalite experience unforgettable.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

Booked with MAG for a private guide and three days of ice climbing. Got set up with guide Lindsay Fixmer for the trip. Amazing guide! Thoroughly experienced, confident, and highly skilled climber but very modest. Excellent teacher with great patience. Ability to personalize the training/experience based on the climber and their needs, ability, and goals. Would absolutely work with her again in the future. Working with MAG was smooth and easy. Very responsive to email, punctual, and made a scheduling change without any problems. Gear (boots and harness) was all in great condition. Highly recommend this guide service!” MIKE C.
