Intermediate Ice
Elevate your ice climbing proficiency. In this 2-day Intermediate Ice Course in Hyalite Canyon, you’ll learn learn to move with precision and power on steeper ice, mastering footwork, tool placement, and body positioning. Designed for climbers with foundational experience that are ready to push their limits, gain confidence, and experience the thrill of climbing more challenging lines—all under the guidance of expert instructors.

Advanced Movement Techniques: Enhance your efficiency on steeper terrain through optimized footwork and body positioning.
Ice Protection Mastery: Learn to place and evaluate ice screws, build robust anchors, and understand their limitations.
Anchor Construction: Develop skills to create secure ice anchors, including V-threads, for safe rappelling and belaying.
Ice Quality Assessment: Gain the ability to read ice conditions, identifying safe placements and potential hazards.
Self-Belay Techniques: Utilize your tools effectively for self-belay, enhancing safety during climbs.
Rappelling Skills: Master techniques for safe and efficient descent, including V-thread placement and rope management.

Climbers enrolling in our Intermediate Ice Climbing Course should have some previous experience climbing on ice. Contact us about options if you feel you need to gain these skills.
