Our professional climbing guides make this a safe and fun way for families, kids, & beginners to try climbing. We will cover basic climbing techniques, belaying, and gear, with a focus on lots of climbing!
OVERVIEW: Our professional climbing guides teach the foundational skills necessary for outdoor climbing with coaching on belaying and climbing outdoors.

Paradise Valley: Allenspur (Livingston/Yellowstone north entrance)
This area has one of the most scenic positions of any climbing area in southwest Montana! The approach is less than 10 minutes and the climbing sits just above Paradise Valley with views of the northern Absaroka Mountains that lead right into Yellowstone NP. Great climbs from beginners to intermediate abilities.
Drive times: Livingston: 5 minutes
Bozeman: 20 minutes
Big Sky Center: 1:30 minutes
Gallatin Canyon
This area holds the largest concentration of climbing in southwest Montana! It contains everything from beginner climbs to the summits of small towers to expert climbs with drastic overhangs. Routes vary in length from 50′ to 400′. The climbing is on Gneiss stone (metamorphosed granite).
Drive times:
Bozeman: 30 minutes
Big Sky Center: 30-45 minutes
Red Cliff (Big Sky/Yellowstone West Entrance)
Red Cliff is a great place to get an introduction to rock climbing! There are over 20 climbs to choose from varying in difficulty from beginner to intermediate. The approach is approximately 5 minutes on a trail.
Drive times:
Bozeman: 1 hr
Big Sky Center: 15-20 minutes
*Climbing locations are ultimately at our discretion to ensure we choose appropriate locations for the group’s ability.
Please see our Rock Climbing Equipment List for the required equipment for this trip. Technical equipment (rock climbing shoes, helmet, and harness) may be rented from MAG for the day for $10/person. This must be coordinated in advance (especially shoe sizes!)
