Hiring a private guide allows participants to choose the exact dates, times, group they climb with, and objectives to best fit their own desires. Private instruction can range from any of our courses, a combination of courses, long moderates, or 5.12 traditional routes. All private instruction is priced according to the number of participants.

Half Day (4 hrs)- Times: Morning (8-12) or Afternoon (1-5)
1:1- $450; 2:1- $550; 3:1- $675; 4:1- $800; 5:1 $875
Full Day (6 hrs)- multi-pitch & advanced climbing options
1:1- $550; 2:1- $650; 3:1- $825; 4:1- $900; 5:1- $1,000
Advanced Full Day (>8 hrs)- challenging objectives and link-ups

Paradise Valley: Allenspur (Livingston/Yellowstone north entrance)
This area has one of the most scenic positions of any climbing area in southwest Montana! The approach is less than 10 minutes and the climbing sits just above Paradise Valley with views of the northern Absaroka Mountains that lead right into Yellowstone NP. Great climbs from beginners to intermediate abilities.
Drive times: Livingston: 5 minutes
Bozeman: 20 minutes
Big Sky Center: 1:30 minutes
Gallatin Canyon
This area holds the largest concentration of climbing in southwest Montana! It contains everything from beginner climbs to the summits of small towers to expert climbs with drastic overhangs. Routes vary in length from 50′ to 400′. The climbing is on Gneiss stone (metamorphosed granite).
Drive times:
Bozeman: 30 minutes
Big Sky Center: 30-45 minutes
Practice Rock, Hyalite Canyon (Bozeman, MT)
Here we climb on the northern edge of the Yellowstone Ecosystem. This beautiful canyon has a great venue for beginners to experts alike!
Drive times:
Bozeman: 15 minutes
Big Sky Center: 1 hour (45 minutes to where you meet your guide in Bozeman)

Please see our Rock Climbing Equipment List for the required equipment for this trip. Technical equipment (rock climbing shoes, helmet, and harness) may be rented from MAG and is included in day cost. This must be coordinated in advance (especially shoe sizes!)
When you come to MAG with your goals, we can build you a custom course to meet them. Whether you have the goal of climbing the Grand Teton on your own, or scaling Yosemite’s Big Walls, we have a course for you. Our guides and instructors have years of experience teaching all abilities. Single day and Multi Day options are available.
